My name is The Scrambler, and I have a thing for old Vegas...

Quiet you!
Rim shot.

Had a 1970 Vega. Great car if you throw away the engine.

How rusty?

Exactly. I figure that a 2.0 Ecotec turbo and a 6-speed from a Solstice GXP/Sky Redline might do the trick, along with some suspension tuning.

They look good, but unless they have the upgraded engine from 1976 (I think?), and this probably doesn't since it's a 1972, I'd run, not hide.
The Vega's aluminum engine was notorious for buckling and leaking.
Just sayin'.

Who in this universe buys a used Vega and doesn't immediately swap out the engine?

I have no interest in the stock 140 cu. in. aluminum lump.

Hmm...
Interesting. Either the nose is wrong or the tail panel is. My guess is the nose.

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

The LNF is awesome, perhaps GM's best engine ever

Ahh, so perhaps squeezing a V8 in it? Because it is a beautiful design. As DeLorean said "it's an Italian Chevy."

There are more V8 Vegas in he world than stock Vegas at this point. I'm thinking that the 2.0 turbo Ecotec and 6-speed out of a Solstice might be a nice change of pace.

That's be interesting indeed. It's like Zach Bowman's attempt at putting a Focus ST engine in a Fox Body Mustang.

What do you mean?

The Chevy Monza (based on the Vega) came from the factory with an optional V8. I don't know how big a shoehorn you'd need to stuff an LS into it but that would be lots of fun!

Go get some professional help son, you don't want a Vega, ask anyone.

I grew up with a couple of these. I know exactly what I would be getting myself into.

V8 Vegas are a dime a dozen and most likely slowly being destroyed by their engines. I'm looking for one that hasn't already been converted to anything. I'll take some rust over a torque-racked unibody.
